Project 365 – Week 43

We’ve had a quiet week this week with more happening around the house mainly due to the weather.  We’ve made it through the first half of the school term without any major upsets or illness apart from Erin having the sickness bug a few weeks back.  I think we were all rather grateful to see three thirty arrive on Friday, making the start of a weeks holiday for the boys.

291Today we spent several hours building the first bit of new furniture and sorting out Erin’s toys.  One thing I’ve come to realise is that sorting out toys, clothes and the house in general is a slow process especially when the children get involved! We’re trying to get rid of a lot of clutter that has accumulated and today we really felt we’d managed to make an impact on it.

292For the last few weeks I’ve been watching The Kitchen on BBC2.  I’m enjoying watching the different family dynamics and seeing how the Kitchen plays a role within todays society.  It’s interesting to see the different family values too and how the family members interact with each other.

293Erin had a new friend waiting for her when she got home from meithrin today.  Her little face lit up as soon as she saw Blu-Belle.  Blu- Belle is a gorgeous Bonikka rag doll from Imajo and it looks like she and Erin are going to be firm friends.

294Erin has recently started to enjoy dressing up with her brothers, however it’s usually as Bat girl!, so when she wanted to put her tinkerbelle costume on this afternoon I was really surprised.  However when it came to the school run she wouldn’t take it off and as it was cold and pouring down I had to persuade her to put her trousers and a cardigan on!  Once in the car park I also managed to get her to put her coat on too!

295This evening marked a milestone for us as parents, we attended the Open Evening at our local secondary school with Luc.  He’ll be attending the school from September and I honestly can’t quite believe it.  Luc thoroughly enjoyed having the chance to get hands on and experience the activities on offer during the evening.  While it was an opportunity for dad of 3 and myself to get a feel of the school and ask some questions.

296Dare I say the C word… Christmas! This evening I treated myself to Jamie’s festive edition and spent some time looking for inspiration ahead of the festive season.  I love the look of this Gingerbread star tree and may even give it a go myself.

297Today was a relaxed day here, the children all slept until just gone 9am which meant so did we! We then had a leisurely breakfast, a perfect start to half term.  I popped into town to get a few bits (making the most of a child free trip) and then the children built 3d puzzles and lego models while I relaxed and read.  This evening I took the three boys to see The Planets in our local theatre, a performance by Hummadruz Youth Theatre and Circus.  This ultraviolent performance was an interpretation of Holts Plantet Suite and was a lovely introduction for children to the music.

Sounds like a busy week. Great that the school visit went well, we’re starting out with primary.

And the planets performance sounds brilliant. If you’ve got a post about that, then do come and link up with my Explore Music with children linky that closes at the end of the month.

  5. Saturday evening sounds amazing, Its amazing how quick they grow up and get to big school age, glad he enjoyed the experience. Love tinkerbelle, laughed at the trousers and jumper to go with it.
