With the Summer holiday season almost upon us, many families planning to fly off on their holidays over the coming weeks. But with 30% of air passengers suffering with ear discomfort and pain when in the air and more suffering occasional ear problems the flight it’s self may not be enjoyable.
But EarPlanes® may just be the solution for you. EarPlanes® from Cirrus Healthcare products are an ingenious and simple solution to barotrauma, which is the technical term for ear discomfort and pain associated with flying.
EarPlanes® consists of a silicone earplug which acts as an airtight seal between the product and the ear canal and a ceramic pressure regulator which acts as a controlled filter when inserted into the ear. A typical aircraft descent from 8,000 feet
I have been given five sets of EarPlanes® to giveaway to five lucky followers, to be in with a chance of winning one set all you have to do is complete the rafflecopter form below.
to sea level takes 16 minutes. The pressure regulator in EarPlanes® changes the way in which the passenger’s middle ear ‘experiences’ the descent by lessening the air pressure difference on the exterior and interior of the middle ear.
EarPlanes® also help to filter out high frequency noise generated by aircraft engines whilst at the same timing allowing you to hear flight announcements.
Hints and Tips for On Board Ear Solutions
-
Try to avoid flying if suffering from a cold or sinus infection – but clearly, this is not always practical. If your nose or ears are feeling blocked, use an over-the-counter decongestant, whether in a nasal spray or tablet/capsule format shortly before take-off and again before the aircraft begins its descent
-
The Valsalva manoeuvre is an important and simple means of relieving discomfort and clearing the ear – it involves vigorous swallowing and/or forcibly breathing out with your mouth while pinching your nose
-
Staying awake during descent is important both for adults and children as the ear’s Eustachian tube or middle ear does not open effectively during sleep
-
Sucking a sweet or chewing on gum are also good
-
For infants, give them milk during the descent as the sucking and swallowing will have the same effect as the Valsalva manoeuvre
-
Always take EarPlanes® on board – give your ears a First Class flight!
Adult EarPlanes® and Children’s EarPlanes® are suitable for people:
-
With sensitive ears
-
Who are suffering from allergies
-
Are suffering with a sinus problem
EarPlanes® are safe, comfortable and disposable and are available in Boots, Supermarkets and Pharmacies everywhere ( information taken from Press Release)
