Omlet Fruit Skelter Review and Giveaway

Over the last couple of weeks we have been trying out a Fruit Skelter from Omlet.   We’ve always used a fruit bowl but found that any fruit at the bottom of the bowl would go off quickly and also finding space for the fruit bowl was challenging in a small kitchen.  So when I was asked if we would like to try a Fruit Skelter I was intrigued.  We already have an egg ramp from Omlet ( you can see what we thought here)

I opted to have a cream Fruit Skelter to go with our hopefully soon to be completed new kitchen.   But it is also available in black and they cost £19.99.   When my Fruit Skelter arrived a couple of days later I was pleased it did not require a lot of putting together and also that the design  was so simple and would not look out-of-place in any kitchen or dinning room.  The diameter was also smaller than the fruit bowl we had used previously.   The Fruit Skelter comes with two attachments for the top of the skelter, either a banana hook or a simple loop to just add decoration, both of which simply screw into the hole in the centre of the skelter.  IMG_5744As we eat a lot of bananas here I opted to attach the Banana hook to the fruit skelter.  I put the other top attachment safe incase we wanted to change the banana hook at a later date.   I couldn’t decide where the best place was for the fruit skelter to go, I wanted somewhere it would be accessible for the children so they could help themselves to fruit when they wanted.   As our new work surfaces aren’t in place yet I decided to put it on the kitchen table until it could be moved to a work surface.  IMG_5745Erin then helped me add our fresh fruit to the fruit skelter.   She thought it was very funny watching the apples roll down the skelter to the bottom.  When the boys came home from school I showed them the Fruit Skelter and told them that when they took fruit to take it from the bottom so that the oldest fruit is always eaten first.

fruit skelter picsThe design of the Fruit Skelter is very solid and sturdy even when full of fruit it can not be knocked over easily.  I have also moved it when full of fruit and the fruit remained on the skelter.  It’s been about three weeks now since we started using the Fruit Skelter and one thing I have noticed is that the bananas are not turning as quickly as they did when in the fruit bowl.  Also the children are eating more fruit, okay this could be a coincidence but I think that now the fruit is more accessible it has certainly helped.   So far it’s safe to say the Fruit Skelter has made storing fruit easier and also meant that we are not throwing fruit away because it has gone off as we are eating it all.   So the Fruit Skelter is a big success here.
