Do you have a favourite place on the Welsh coast? Have heard about the National Wales Coastal campaign?
As the main charity caring for the Welsh coast they would like to know why you love your favourite National Trust location. It’s very simple to do, just pop over to the National Trust Wales facebook page and using the app choose your favourite coastal location and add your reason for loving it. Every one who shares their memory or reason will be entered into a prize draw to win a fantastic prize, a days kayaking and/or coasteering for yourself and four others at Stackpole Quay, Pembrokeshire. Stackpole is an absolutely gorgeous place, we had the pleasure of visiting just before the Summer holidays (keep your eyes peeled for a post coming soon)
The most original and inspiring comment will be chosen by Justin Albert The National Trust Wales Director on the 31st October 2013. The chosen winner will have a whole year to claim their prize.
One of our favourite coastal locations is Mwnt in Ceredigion. We are lucky enough to live close by and love visiting all year round. It holds a special place in my heart not only because of childhood memories there but we were married there and the three boys were also christened there. So it has several special memories for us as a family. We are very fortunate to live near several of the National Trust Wales locations here and frequently visit them. Why not share your memories in the coastal campaign.
Did you know?
- The National Trust cares for 157 miles of the Welsh coast.
- The very first place it took on back in 1895, was Dinas Oleu hillside, which overlooks the popular seaside town of Barmouth.
- We also own and care for some our best beaches, which are consistently voted some of the most beautiful anywhere in the world; beaches like Rhossili on Gower, Barafundle in Pembrokeshire, Penbryn in Ceredigion or Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) on Llŷn.
- Looking after these and many more amazing places are our local teams of Rangers. Supported by hundreds of volunteers, they use their local knowledge to manage wildlife habitats and historic places, whilst making sure that you have a brilliant visit.
- The comments received through the app will enable our Rangers to better understand what’s special about the places in their care, so that they can look after it better for you.
