Journey 2 – The Mysterious Island Review

This week we were sent a copy of Journey 2 – The Mysterious Island on dvd by Warner Home Video.  So after a busy weekend we decided to relax and watch it as a family earlier today.  It can be difficult to find a film that the whole family enjoys due to the age of the boys but they were all eager to see Journey 2 when it arrived.

Journey 2 dvd and the goodies sent with it

About the film:
The Journey 2, stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine and Vanessa Hudgens and is the follow up film from Journey to the Center of Earth.  “17 year old Sean (Josh Hutcherson, reprising his role from the first film) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island – a place of bizarre and dangerous life forms, deadly volcano’s and astonishing secrets! Unable to stop him, Sean’s Stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) joins the quest.  Together with a helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the Island, rescue its lone human inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves swallow the island and bury its treasure forever” Synopsis taken from the back of the dvd case.

Right from the start the film had us all hooked, its fast paced and full of adventure.  The boys were enthralled by the storyline and even dad of 3 enjoyed.  Dad of 3 even raised a laugh at Dwayne Johnson (aka the Rock) singing around the campfire! This film certainly has something for everyone.  The special effects are very good, some films are spoiled by over the top effects with too much going on so that you loose the focus of the action.  However this was not the case with Journey 2-The Mysterious IslandAs a fantasy adventure it is an easy film for young and old to watch together.  It made for an enjoyable afternoon.  The dvd we received also included a digital copy so I can watch it on my ipad.
