We are so fortune to live were we do. There are several lovely beaches close by and we love going when ever possible. Although usually we don’t go during the summer holidays as it gets so busy with tourists. So we tend to wait and go in the evenings or once the children are back in school. But with four children at home this holidays and the older two needing to let use up more energy I decided to book them on to some free events on Poppit beach. I am so glad I did now as myself and the children have had a lovely time and enjoyed doing something different, meeting new people and all while enjoying the beach.
This week we took part in a two hour free kite making and flying session run by Small World Theatre, a local group. I had been a bit dubious about the weather before we set of for Poppit as it had been raining on and off but I was determined to go. So raincoats in hand we headed off. Poppit is only ten/fifteen minutes from us and its funny how different the weather was when we arrived. Brilliant sunshine and dry. The boys were excited especially Rowan who loves the beach at the moment. We headed of to find the Small World Theatre workshop and register. Trystan and Luc went and got stuck right in to getting their kite’s cut out while I found a shady spot for Erin and her pushchair then set about helping Rowan make his kite. Within half an hour we had three kites completed. I was amazed at how easy it was to make them. Poppit was getting very crowded and there was a lovely breeze blowing making it great kite flying weather. Rowan has never flown a kite before but really took to it and did really well. In fact he was slightly more successful at flying his kite than his brothers. Trystan needed a bit of a repair job on his kite after it crash landed but that was easily fix with a little sellotape. Both the older boys needed a little bit of help to get their kites up flying but were fine after that initial help. We will defiantly be keeping an eye out for next years events being held by Small World Theatre, this event was free but required booking in advance. We gave a donation as thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and donations are used towards funding further activities.
