Project 365 weeks 13 and 14

It’s been another busy fortnight here with the run up to Easter and the holidays.  The boys were all hit with a nasty sickness bug within the last week of term.  Rowan had a particularly bad time of it and didn’t eat for almost five days which wasn’t fantastic for him given he’s small anyway.  It had been a while since we had seen him so ill and really bad timing as he was supposed to visit the reception unit at the local primary school for a few hours at the beginning of that week before starting part time after the holidays.  Rowan has spent months begging to go to ‘big school’ so being unable to go was awful for him.  However I spoke to the deputy head and it was agreed he could attend the following day as he had been clear of sickness for 72 hours by that stage.  It was clear that he was still not 100 % when the morning came though but he insisted on going to big school.  Two hours later I picked up a very tearful tired little boy who promptly fell asleep standing up against the sofa when we got home! Then the last day of term he woke his usually bouncy bubbly mischievous self for his last morning at meithrin, I can’t tell you what a relief it was.  But unfortunately the previous night Luc was hit with the bug and an hour before term finished Trystan came down with it, not quite the envisaged start to the holidays.  Thankfully Luc bounced back within 24 hours and Trystan just afterwards.  Trystan also lost three teeth that week, the older two decorated eggs for the school annual egg hunt and Rowan spent the time he was up to it playing with angry birds!

This last week has been so much better in terms of sickness, fingers crossed that’s the end to bugs here for a while.  We have made the most of the drier weather and been out and about exploring local places.  Monday saw us visit Cilgerran Castle for an Easter Egg hunt with the National Trust, Tuesday was watching lambs in a local field, Erin getting used to her first pair of proper shoes.  Wednesday was a walk and picnic to the local Wildlife Centre followed by a trip to the local Shire Horse Farm on Thursday.  Then yesterday and this morning have been spent playing in the garden while I get on top of the house work so we can go exploring again this afternoon.
