This week has been a challenge in as much as we’re all running on empty especially the boys and tempers have flared at times due to tiredness. This week saw the culmination of weeks of practising for the Junior school summer show with now less than five performances, two of which were evening ones. I think everyone was pleased to see 3.30pm arrive yesterday!
I decided last week to try and take some photographs of our pets, plants and the scenery around us for a change and in the hope my composition skills would improve somewhat.
Sunday 6th July 2014
This evening I started playing about with photographing some of our pets, trying to capture their personalities and improving the composition of my pictures. I tend to relay on using my iphone mainly as it’s handy and nearly always with me! These four were very curious to see me laying on the grass snapping away.
Monday 7th July 2014
One thing that never fails to put a smile on my face is these girls, they really have become part of the family in every sense. With the weather being glorious the last few weeks it’s meant washing on the line all day. Every evening when I go down to collect it in the girls are there clucking away as if their asking ‘how my day was’ and we have a chat, chickens make very good listeners you know. We have one that likes to jump out of their area and will come and stand by me as I’m taking the washing done and then obliges with a stroke, it’s quite therapeutic.
Tuesday 8th July 2014 –
Today was one of those muggy days which you know needs a good down pour to clear the air. Just after lunch that’s exactly what happened, quite spectacularly too. Once it stopped I ventured out to try and capture the raindrops on some of the pogonias.
Wednesday 9th July 2014 –
This evening while watering the plants I was delighted to see our peppers finally emerging. We’ve got the growing bug at the moment and it’s great to see every member of the family getting involved.
Thursday 10th July 2014 –
This evening was the weekly Cub meeting and we spent some time in the Scout Hut garden looking for bugs and exploring their habitats. Located on the banks of the Teifi this time of year sees the local rowing club out on the river in the evenings and various Swans and ducks too.
Friday 11th July 2014 –
Merlin found the perfect spot for enjoying the last of the evening sun this evening. He looked like he was really enjoying the warmth too having spent the majority of the day in the shade trying to escape the intense heat that developed today.
Saturday 12th July 2014 –
I came down to start dinner ten minutes ago to be greeted by one of the girls in the kitchen. Kitty suddenly appeared and seemed a bit puzzled as to why there was a chicken in her kitchen!

I didn’t know you had chooks! Ours have been far too free range and are messing up the garden – and patio – and they also come into the house uninvited. I love their company but want to pen them in again – although we have a fence jumper too!
