Sainsbury have teamed up with Save the Children to help promote child literacy. Reading with your child can help spark imaginations and also boosts the bond between parent and child. We have always read with our children, it’s become one of our rituals and something we all thoroughly enjoy. So I wanted to get involved with the campaign to help raise awareness of the fact that tens of thousands of children leave Primary School not being able to read as well as they should. One third of children growing up in poverty are affected by this and it impacts their life chances.
The Storytellers campaign sees the return of Mog the Cat in Mog’s Christmas Calamity by Judith Kerr and features in Sainsbury’s Christmas Advert.
Sainsbury’s would like you to reveal your inner storyteller and film yourself reading from Mog’s Christmas Calamity. Once you have done this share your video with Sainsbury’s either on their facebook page or on their twitter. Don’t worry if you don’t have a copy of the book because you can visit here where you will find an excerpt from the book for you to read from. If you can do this by midday today (17th December 2015) you will also have the chance to feature in special online version of the story.
I’ve had a go and you can see my video here
