Last week the lovely people at John Crane kindly set us this lovely High Tea Shape Matching Set to review. We love wooden toys here so were really excited to have this as an addition. I wasn’t sure how the boys would react to the set as it is very pink but to their credit they have not mentioned the colour once. As soon as the set arrived the boys were eager to play with it.
The set was very easy to assemble and took me about five minutes maximum to do so. While I was putting the stand together the boys and the little girl I was caring for that day looked through the individual wooden cakes. Once put together the children took it in turns to select a cake and match it to the right place on the cake stand. Once they had completed it they wanted to start all over again. The four children spent half an hour playing with the set before moving on to something else. That afternoon while the little ones were having their nap, Luc and Trystan asked to play with the High Tea Matching set again.
Since the High Tea Shape Matching Set arrived on Thursday it has been played with daily by the boys and the children I care for. They have used the set to match both shapes and numbers and have also used the set as alongside the toy kitchen we have.
Both the children and myself have been delighted by this fantastic set, the attention to detail on each of the wooden cakes is of such a high quality down to the sprinkles and fruit on the tops of the cakes. There are 15 brightly coloured cakes in total, each a different shape and with a number on the base. This certainly is a made to a very high standard and is made to withstand years of play. The play and educational value of the High Tea Shape Matching Set has been endless so far and I hope the boys and those I care for will continue to gain pleasure in playing with it. The High Tea Shape Matching Set is suitable for children aged 3 years plus. Rowan and the little one’s I care for who are age 22months to 2 years have used this under close supervision from myself.
