With four children you can imagine it’s not easy finding a room layout that will enable the children to sleep, store clothes and toys and also have some space to do homework or play. Currently two of the boys share a room while the other has a small box room and Erin is in with us. The box room presents its own problems mainly storage.
I’ve spent hours with dad of 3 looking for ideas and it seems storage systems are the way forward. I was thinking of something like this from Ikea would solve the problem.
Then for the box room I thought having a high sleeper bed would enable chest of drawers and possibly a desk to be put underneath which would make the most of the space we have. The boys quite like these beds which I found on the B&Q website
Thankfully when it comes to the room decoration all three boys are into very similar so that part is the easiest to decide on. In this case the boys have asked for Angry Birds. So dad of three and I are going to paint a mural on one of the walls and also use some wall stickers.
We bought these from Amazon and they are reusable too.
But before we can do that there is the tedious job of stripping wall paper and preparing the walls. I hate this part of decorating but I know from past experience of decorating other houses that preparation is key. I’ve spent a while searching various diy websites for the correct method of preparing walls and came across this very helpful ebook I’m not one for letting dad of 3 do everything and am happy to have a go at just about anything. So having something like this ebook to reference when needed is very useful.
One things for sure it’s going to take some time to get the rooms finished but I’m pretty sure it will be worth it in the end.
