Project 365 – Week 26

We’ve had a mixed week here this week, I feel I’ve hit the ground running since coming back from Britmums Live and haven’t really caught up on sleep etc.  On top of that I’ve weaned Erin of the breast and although she asked for it and had tantrums when told no, for the first three days after I got home she’s actually coped quite well.

I spent the day feeling shattered after finally getting home at 1.30am from Britmums Live, I had been due home at 10.30pm!  I decided to plod on and get as much done as possible in the morning so I could relax in the afternoon.  When I finally stopped and decided to go through my goodies from Britmums Live Erin quickly claimed the tiara and spent a good hour wearing it.

This morning when I popped to Tesco with Erin we spotted these lovely plastic plates and tumblers that were reduced in the sale, would have been rude not to pick them up really! I also spotted this very cute cushion and decided I could use it along with the plates to play around with my photography.

This evening the weather seemed to turn a bit and there was a distinct chill in the air, to be honest it was lovely and refreshing.  Dad of 3 decided he was going to burn some branches we had from the gardening.  I ceased the opportunity to make some s’mores on the chiminea as a treat before bedtime, they went down a treat with the boys.

Dad of 3 made a compost heap for us over the weekend and every evening when we’ve gone to empty peelings onto it the chickens have quickly gathered at the fence to watch what’s going on.  Tonight they were quite vocal and it was as if they were asking for treats.

As I was making my way down to collect the boys from school I received a phone call asking me to collect Rowan a bit early.  While playing on the yard at last play Rowan had been stung just beneath his left eye.  By the time I pulled in to the school some three minutes later his poor eye had swollen up quite badly and he was really tearful bless him.  Once I collected the older two early two we headed home where I spent an hour and a half trying to persuade Rowan to let me put vinegar on his sting to neutralise the sting.  Eventually he let me and when he realised it was helping he was happy to sit with a compress of vinegar on the area.  Even though the swelling went down slightly we were left with a very quiet and cuddly boy for the rest of the evening.

I think the lack of sleep from the hot weather and yesterdays event took their toll on poor Rowan.  We had a bit of a show down at dinner this evening with Rowan asking for additional food on his plate and then refusing to eat it.  It resulted in him being sent upstairs to cool down without dessert.  I followed him upstairs fifteen minutes later where I found Rowan asleep on our bed under his sister’s Hello Kitty blanket!

We’ve had a busy day here today, this morning the older two boys came to help me at a coffee morning for the local Children’s centre Jigso.  Then we spent a good hour cleaning out the chickens and the rabbit before we headed out to collect three new girls from today’s rescue.  The new girls have come from a free range farm and are in pretty good condition.  Once home we treated them for mites along with our existing girls and then put them in the run to stretch their legs with food and water.  The other girls quickly came to see what was happening and they was a lot of calling from all of them.  In the end we put some cardboard up along the run to prevent any stress.  Their currently all happily enjoying the fresh air before their all put to bed together.

Gosh you have had a busy week. Was your journey home affected by all of the train delays at Paddington? Mine was and I was beginning to wonder if I was going to get home. I think all of the children are ready for the summer holidays now.
