Well this week saw the children returning to school after half term and we certainly hit the ground running with the older two having empathy days towards the end of the week and I had a few days to source costumes! Here’s our week!
Sunday 2nd November 2014
After a busy week last week I grabbed the opportunity to relax and cwtch up on the sofa for some child free time while dad of 3 read bedtime stories and got the younger two to sleep.
Monday 3rd November 2014
The children all seemed to enjoy their first day back at school and catching up with friends. The older two had our Beaver/cub/scout Halloween party this evening where all had a great time, playing games and enjoying food provided by parents. All the young people were given centenary badges to be sown on their uniform ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Today I had a lovely surprise from Disney UK. They very kindly sent us some cupcakes to cheer me up after I had had one of those days! last friday. The cakes where from Alexander and the Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, which is the new Disney film! I actually felt last Friday like I could have starred in the film myself! The cakes were delicious and a very kind gift, thank you Disney UK.

This afternoons craft activity was making Poppies with the children. I very easy craft to help prepare for Remembrance Sunday and also gave us the opportunity to talk about why we mark Remembrance Sunday. You can see how we made the poppies here

Today Luc’s year held a World War 2 The Blitz Empathy Day at school. All the children dressed up from the era. I had managed to source some items from local charity shops as well as finding a jumper in a sale online. He certainly looked the part and he had very kindly been lent a real gas mask from the time.
Friday 7th November 2014
Most of the week has been wet which is typical for this time of the year. However it has been relentless at times, one of which was overnight and we woke to find our drive flooding. I had to don my wellingtons to move the car out of the water and then carry the younger children to the car. We’ve also had to walk part of the school runs since Tuesday due to the fair arriving and making a start on setting up in the car park next to the school. I managed to get soaked despite my wellies and rain coat on two of the three school runs today but thankfully the rain eased by mid afternoon and the water started to drain away.

Our little princess is certainly developing a sense of style. For the last nine months she has made it known when she’s not wanted to wear certain clothes and will make it clear what she wants to wear instead! Thankfully we’ve avoided major meltdowns lately and she’s approved of her wardrobe! I treated her to some of the gorgeous new Bunny print items in Next last week and she’s been keen to have her photograph taken in each of the new items! She certainly looks very cute in the Bunny Print.
I hope you’ve all had a good week ….
That world war 2 costume is fab! Yeah cupcakes would make me feel better.
